Thanksgiving 2026 is Thursday, November 26. For most restaurants it's not a big dine-in day. It's a pre-order week. People want someone else to make the pies, the sides or the whole spread, and they start planning in early November. If your pre-order post goes up the Tuesday before, a lot of them will have already ordered somewhere else.

The week also brings three other posting moments: the night before, when families are in town and nobody wants to cook; Black Friday, when shoppers need lunch and everyone is tired of leftovers; and Small Business Saturday on November 28, when people go out of their way to support local places.

Below are 16 post ideas in roughly the order you'd use them, followed by a day-by-day timeline. Each idea names the Studio tool or template that makes it from your real menu and photos, so the pie in the post is your pie and the price matches what you'll charge at the counter.

The list

16 ideas you can post

  1. 1

    Pre-orders are open

Post the week of November 2 with one strong photo of your pie or your most-ordered side, what you're offering, the price and how to order. Caption starter: "Let us bring the pie this year. Pre-orders are open until Tuesday, Nov 24."

  2. 2

    The full to-go menu

One clean post listing everything you're offering for the holiday: pies, sides by the quart, rolls, a whole meal if you do one. Include prices and serving sizes so people can plan for their table. Save it to a Story highlight so it's easy to find.

  3. 3

A pie close-up that sells itself

Film or photograph a pie being sliced, or take your best photo of one and push slowly into the crust. Post it mid-November when people are deciding. The AI close-up version uses credits.

  4. 4

    Friendsgiving trays

Plenty of people host a Friendsgiving the weekend before. If you do party trays, post them around November 13 with how many they feed and how much notice you need. Caption starter: "Hosting Friendsgiving? We'll cover the sides."

  5. 5

    Your holiday hours, early

Post your full Thanksgiving week hours by November 16, including any early close on Wednesday, the Thursday closure and Friday hours. Put a matching sign in the window. It saves your staff a week of phone calls.

  6. 6

    The same hours on Google

Most people check Google before they drive over. Update your special hours in your Google Business Profile, then add a post there with the same details and a photo. Do both in the same sitting so they never disagree.

  7. 7

    Pre-order countdown

On Friday, November 20, post a reminder with the deadline in large type. Post it again on Monday, November 23 as the last call. Keep the design the same so people recognize it. Caption starter: "Last call for pies. Orders close tomorrow."

Make it with Offer flash video →
  8. 8

    Pickup day instructions

The day before pickup, post exactly how it works: the pickup window, where to park, whether to come inside, what to bring. A calm, clear post prevents a line out the door on Wednesday.

  9. 9

    Thanksgiving Eve dinner

Wednesday, November 25 is a night when families are in town and nobody wants to dirty the kitchen before the big meal. If you're open, post a dinner special or a family bundle that morning. Caption starter: "Save your oven for tomorrow."

  10. 10

    Thank the team

During pie week, film a few seconds of your staff boxing orders, rolling dough or loading the pickup shelf. Post it with a real thank-you in your own words, and ask everyone before they appear on camera.

  11. 11

Thank the people behind the food

If your turkey, apples or bread come from local farms and bakers, name them and thank them. Show the ingredient and the dish it becomes. Only name suppliers you actually buy from.

  12. 12

    Closed today, happy Thanksgiving

On Thursday morning, post one warm photo from your kitchen or dining room with a short holiday message and the day you reopen. A soft window-light video of a favorite dish fits the mood (uses credits).

  13. 13

    Black Friday lunch

On Friday, November 27, shoppers are out, tired and hungry, and nobody wants a fourth leftover sandwich. Post a quick lunch special or a combo in the morning. Caption starter: "Taking a break from the leftovers? We're open."

Make it with Dish story video →
  14. 14

    Small Business Saturday

Saturday, November 28 is the day people make a point of buying local. Post a lettered line like "Shop small, eat local" around a photo of your dish, and tag the shops next door if you know the owners.

  15. 15

    Gift cards go on sale

Thanksgiving weekend is when holiday shopping starts, so it's a natural moment to post your gift cards. Show a dish people love and say where to buy them. This bridges straight into your December posts.

  16. 16

    A leftover-night special

By Sunday, November 29, people are done cooking. Post a comfort-food special or your usual weekend favorite with "we'll do the dishes tonight." A fresh layout on an older photo works fine here.

What every pre-order post needs

If you can't fit all five into the image, put the deadline and price in the design and the rest in the caption.

  • What you're selling, with the name and price from your menu.
  • How many it serves, so people can plan for their table.
  • The order deadline, as a date and a day of the week.
  • The pickup window and where pickup happens.
  • How to order: a link, a phone number, or both.

Make the whole month in one afternoon

In Studio, your menu and photos are already loaded, so each of these posts starts with your real pie or side, its real name and its real price. Make them all in one sitting in early November and schedule them to Instagram, Facebook, Google and TikTok across the month. Nothing goes out until you've approved it, and you can change the words any time before it posts.

FAQs

Frequently asked
questions

When is Thanksgiving 2026?
Thanksgiving 2026 is Thursday, November 26. Black Friday is November 27 and Small Business Saturday is November 28.
When should a restaurant start posting about Thanksgiving?
Start in the first week of November. People lock in pie and side orders well before the holiday week, so your first pre-order post should go up around November 2.
When should Thanksgiving pre-orders close?
Pick a deadline that gives your kitchen time to plan, often the Monday or Tuesday before the holiday. Whatever you choose, put it in every post as a day and a date.
Should I post if my restaurant is closed on Thanksgiving?
Yes. A short closed notice with your reopening day stops wasted trips and phone calls. Post it at least a week ahead and again that morning.
What should I post on Black Friday?
A lunch special or a quick combo for shoppers, posted in the morning. People are out and tired of leftovers, so a plain "we're open, here's lunch" post fits.
Do I need to update my Google hours for Thanksgiving?
Yes. Set special hours in your Google Business Profile for the holiday week, and post the same hours there so searchers see them.
