Build your menu

Printing uses your browser's print dialog — choose “Save as PDF” for a file. Charm-price tip: write “18” not “$18.00” — menus without dollar signs consistently see higher average checks.

Menu design rules the templates already follow

  • No dollar signs, no price columns. Prices sit beside dishes without leader dots or right-aligned columns — layouts that make guests price-shop down the page lower the average check.
  • Short descriptions sell. One line of provenance or technique (“four-hour ragù”) raises perceived value more than adjectives.
  • Small menus win. 20–30 items executed well beat 60 done adequately — for the kitchen and for the guest deciding.
  • Put money items first. The first and last dishes in each section get the most attention — anchor them with your highest-margin plates.

Before you print

Price with intent: cost each dish in the food cost calculator, set targets in the menu pricing calculator, and only then type the numbers here. A beautiful menu with underpriced items is a beautifully presented loss.

And remember the menu guests use most is the one on their phone: pair the printed version with a QR code menu pointing at an ordering page — where the same menu takes the order instead of just describing it.

Keep more of every order

FAQs

Frequently asked
questions

Is this menu maker really free?
Yes — free, no signup, no watermark, no locked templates. Build the menu, print it or save it as a PDF from your browser's print dialog, done.
How do I save my menu as a PDF?
Click Print, then choose 'Save as PDF' as the destination in your browser's print dialog. The preview is formatted for standard letter paper.
Does my menu save if I close the page?
No — the menu lives in this browser tab only. Save the PDF before closing, or keep the tab open while you work.
Should prices on a menu have dollar signs?
No. Menus that write '18' instead of '$18.00' consistently produce higher average checks — the dollar sign triggers price-thinking. The templates here follow that convention automatically.
