Also called: fast food crew member, team member
What a crew member does
Crew members are the engine of a quick-service restaurant. Depending on the shift, they may work the counter, the drive-thru window, the fry station, the grill, or the dining room. They follow set recipes and safety rules, work quickly in a team, and keep the store clean. Because crew members learn several stations, the job builds broad restaurant skills and leads naturally to shift leader and manager roles. It suits people who like active work, clear routines, and being part of a team.
Pay snapshot: the BLS reports a national median of $15.00/hr for fast food and counter workers, and $17.45/hr in the Boston metro. See the full salary breakdown.
