These questions are written for hiring a crew member specifically. Each one includes what you learn from asking it and what a strong answer sounds like.

1. Tell me about a time you worked on a team to reach a goal under time pressure.

Why ask it: Crew work is built on teamwork and speed.

A strong answer: Gives a real example, explains their role, and shows they helped others rather than only focusing on themselves.

2. How do you feel about learning several different stations?

Why ask it: Crew members are cross-trained.

A strong answer: Shows enthusiasm to learn, understands that it makes them more valuable, and is open to feedback.

3. What would you do if you noticed the fryer oil looked dirty or too hot?

Why ask it: Tests safety awareness.

A strong answer: Tells the shift leader, follows the procedure for checking temperature or changing oil, and avoids touching it.

4. A customer says their order is missing an item. What do you do?

Why ask it: Looks at service recovery.

A strong answer: Apologizes, checks the ticket, gets the missing item quickly, and tells the shift leader if a pattern appears.

5. How would you stay focused on a slow, boring shift?

Why ask it: Checks work ethic during slow periods.

A strong answer: Finds cleaning and restocking tasks without being asked and keeps the station ready for the next rush.

6. Describe how you would wash your hands and when you would do it.

Why ask it: Confirms basic food safety habits.

A strong answer: Names key moments such as after the restroom, handling raw food, trash, and touching face, and describes proper handwashing steps.

7. What would you do if a coworker was not following food safety rules?

Why ask it: Tests accountability and respect for standards.

A strong answer: Reminds them politely, and tells a shift leader if it continues.

8. How do you handle someone yelling at you at the window?

Why ask it: Checks patience and composure.

A strong answer: Stays calm, apologizes, fixes the issue, and gets help from a leader if the guest becomes abusive.

9. What does it mean to you to be on time?

Why ask it: Punctuality is critical to shift coverage.

A strong answer: Arrives a few minutes early, communicates if something comes up, and understands how it affects the team.

10. How would you handle two stations needing help at the same time?

Why ask it: Prioritization during a rush.

A strong answer: Decides which affects guests most, asks the leader, and communicates clearly.

11. Why do you want to work here?

Why ask it: Shows motivation and fit with the brand.

A strong answer: Gives a specific reason such as the food, schedule, or growth, rather than just needing a job.

12. Where would you like to be in a year?

Why ask it: Identifies future shift leaders.

A strong answer: Mentions learning more stations, becoming a trainer, or moving into a shift leader role.
