Also called: delivery driver
What a restaurant delivery driver does
A restaurant delivery driver is the guest's only contact with the restaurant for a delivery order, so the job is part driver, part host. You check each order for accuracy, plan an efficient route, drive safely, and hand the food to the customer with a smile. Good drivers know their delivery area, handle payment and tips properly, and communicate when something goes wrong. Many restaurants use their own drivers instead of third-party apps, which means the role is steady, local, and tied directly to the shop's reputation.
Pay snapshot: the BLS reports a national median of $18.64/hr for driver/sales workers, and $22.76/hr in the Boston metro. See the full salary breakdown.
