Also called: dining attendant
What a dining room attendant does
Dining room attendants maintain the guest-facing areas of a restaurant. They clear and wipe tables, keep condiment and drink stations stocked, empty trash, sweep and mop floors, and check restrooms. In buffets and cafeterias they also refill food stations and tidy serving lines. The best attendants notice small things before guests do, move quietly and quickly, and treat cleanliness as part of hospitality. The role is physical and steady, and it fits people who like to stay active and keep a space looking good.
Pay snapshot: the BLS reports a national median of $16.34/hr for dining room and cafeteria attendants and bartender helpers, and $16.72/hr in the Boston metro. See the full salary breakdown.
