Square Online pricing: websites are now part of the plans
Square announced unified plans on October 6, 2025, replacing a stack of separate software subscriptions with Free, Plus and Premium, each priced per location. Websites and online ordering are part of those plans rather than a separate Square Online bill. Square says the plans are available to new US sellers and that most existing sellers can switch from their dashboard. Switching is one-way.
On Free you get a website builder with SEO tools and a branded online ordering page. Square's comparison table marks items such as custom domain connect and expanded site customization as not included on Free. If you still see an older Square Online plan on your account, check your dashboard for the plan you are on, because we could not confirm legacy prices.
Square for Restaurants pricing: what each plan adds
Free covers core restaurant POS needs: item and menu management, pickup and local delivery and a branded online ordering page. Plus adds integrated inventory tracking and close of day reports, and the KDS and Kiosk apps at $30 and $50 per device per month. Premium adds coursing and seat management, lowers the KDS and Kiosk fees to $20 and $30, and includes 24/7 support.
Plus and Premium are billed for every active location. Square marks loyalty, marketing and QR code ordering as not included on Free.
Processing rates and other fees people miss
Square publishes its rates, which is a strength. In person is 2.6% + 15¢ on Free, 2.5% + 15¢ on Plus and 2.4% + 15¢ on Premium. Online or invoice card payments are 3.3% + 30¢ on Free and 2.9% + 30¢ on Plus and Premium. Manually entered cards and cards on file are 3.5% + 15¢ on every plan, and cards issued outside the US add 1.5%.
- Gift card load fee: 2.5% on Free and Plus, 0% on Premium.
- Square Payroll starts at $35 per month plus $6 per person paid.
- Hardware is separate, from $59 for a reader to $899 for a Register.
- Square says you can take payments without hardware through Tap to Pay, invoices or payment links.
Online ordering and delivery fees
Square's online ordering profile takes pickup and delivery orders without marketplace commissions and syncs with the Square POS. The orders carry the online card rate above. For delivery, Square's on-demand delivery pricing policy lists a per-delivery courier fee. DoorDash is $6.99 per delivery up to a 5-mile radius plus $1 per additional mile up to 10 miles. In California it is $8.99, and in New York City $9.98. Uber is $4.20 plus $0.75 per kilometer, or $4.50 plus $0.95 per kilometer in California.
Square says that fee may be charged to the customer or to the merchant depending on how you set delivery fees. Square's December 2020 launch announcement also described a flat $1.50 per order paid to Square. The current policy page does not restate that figure, so confirm it before relying on it.
Who Square fits
Square is a strong fit if you want a low-cost, self-serve POS with one vendor for payments, ordering and a basic website, and you value published prices and a free tier. A small restaurant can start at $0 and add Plus when it needs loyalty or marketing. The tradeoff is that your website, ordering and marketing are tied to Square plan tiers and Square processing.
How Servestack differs
Servestack is not a POS. It is a branded website, ordering, loyalty and SMS and email marketing layer at a flat monthly price with zero per-order commission, and it works with Square, Toast, Clover and other POS systems. You can keep Square for the register and use Servestack for the guest-facing side, then switch POS later without rebuilding your site. Card processing applies on any platform. If you want everything inside Square, it is hard to beat on simplicity.
Example: 400 online orders at $30 each on Square Plus
- A hypothetical single-location restaurant, not a quote.
- $12,000 in online sales in a month: 400 orders averaging $30.
- Square Plus at $49 per month for one location.
- Online card rate of 2.9% + 30¢ per order.
- In-person sales, hardware and delivery courier fees are excluded.
| Square Plus, one location | $49 |
| Online card processing, 2.9% of $12,000 | $348 |
| Online card processing, 30¢ on 400 orders | $120 |
| Estimated total | $517 per month |
The same month on Free would be $516 (3.3% = $396, plus $120), so Plus costs less than Free once online sales pass about $12,250 per month. On Premium it would be $617, because the online rate matches Plus. Your actual cost will differ.
